What are Acoustical Ceilings?

Acoustic ceiling panels are sound-absorbing tiles installed into a metal grid system which is suspended from a heavy gauge wire. Ceiling tiles are designed to reduce ambient noise, echo and reverberations.

Typically you will find most acoustical ceilings in commercial spaces such as medical buildings, schools, libraries, or retail spaces.

Some homeowners will have acoustical ceilings installed in their basements.

In both commercial and residential the acoustical ceiling is used not only to absorb sound but is used to hide the plumbing pipes, air conditioning duct, and electrical wires that are visible and tend to be unsightly.

There are many varieties and options to choose from when it comes to selecting your acoustical ceiling.
